Committees

Computer Science House's committee system is designed to split up projects and organize members for optimal productivity. It is comprised of seven separate committees and the elected Executive Board which manages them. Each committee has its own E-board director(s) to oversee its operation and weekly meetings. Directors are elected on a yearly basis. Members have the freedom to be active in multiple committees.

Chairman

Current Chairman:
Angelo DiNardi
Executive Board Meets:
Wednesday 9:00pm

The position of Chairman of CSH is a very important one. The chairman serves as a spokesperson for House, representing the interests of all members in communications with RIT and outside entities. The chairman also runs weekly House meetings.

Evaluations

Director:
Mike Baril
Meeting Time:
Monday 9:05pm

Eval is responsible for connecting with the RIT student community, and screening, accepting and orienting new members. Eval is why current members are here today!

Computer Science House is always looking for new members. You can learn more about membership on our Membership page. If you would like to visit and tour the floor, or sit in on a class with a CSH member, let the Eval Director know and he/she can arrange this.

Financial

Director:
Aaron Schultz
Meeting Time:
Monday 9:00pm

Financial is responsible for managing CSH's budget, collecting quarterly member dues, and fundraising. Financial is why House has been able to accumulate so many helpful resources for its members. CSH is a non-profit organization with an annual self-generated budget.

Membership dues are $35/quarter for on-floor members, and $30/quarter for off-floor. Off-floor members are required to pay dues to get card access to floor and to use certain services. User Rack machine owners are required to be dues-paying off-floor or alumni year-round.

House History

Meeting Time:
Wednesday 8:15pm

History's primary responsibility is keeping the line of communication between CSH and alumni open. We believe members should have an acute sense of House's origins and accomplishments. History inspires pride in members by keeping the past alive through the yearbook, Coredump newsletter, floor displays, archiving, updating the media database, and managing alumni relations. History also coordinates alumni storytelling nights and other traditional events.

House Improvements

Director:
Andrew LeCain
Meeting Time:
Wednesday 8:00pm

Imps is responsible for keeping our living space respectable and comfortable. It also delegates projects which improve House, such as painting, cleaning, building, and organizing House's resources. We like to take care of our house, and it shows.

Social

Meeting Time:
Thursday 10:00pm

College may be a lot of work, but it should also be a lot of fun! Social is responsible for planning and running events. Social is especially important to members, because the best kind of fun is fun that is shared.

Social often coordinates with the House History Committee to help with annual or historical events, such as our five-year anniversary celebrations. We are always looking to add new events to our repertoire, so if you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to e-mail the Social Directors.

OpComm

Director:
Chris Lockfort
Meeting Time:
Tuesday 9:15pm

OpComm is responsible for maintaining CSH's servers, workstations and network. OpComm allows members to develop and practice skills which are essential for working in computing fields.

OpComm's weekly meetings are used to discuss any critical system problems or necessary upgrades. If you have a problem with your account or one of House's machines, or if you have a request for something to be installed that requires root access, or if you simply have a question about our technical resources, please e-mail the OpComm Director.

Research and Development

Director:
Mike Dumont
Meeting Time:
Tuesday 9:00pm

R&D is responsible for creating new and useful things for House, and creating not-so-useful things that are just a whole lot of fun! Through technical projects and seminars, members expand their knowledge and gain experience with a variety of computer software and hardware.

R&D also organizes CSH's regular seminar series. For information on some of the current R&D projects, check out the Projects page.
