The machine

My machine has the following specs:

• Pentium-M 1400Mhz
• 1024MB RAM
• 40GB disk
• DVD/CDRW
• wireless removed
• Broadcom gigabit ethernet card etc.
• Radeon Mobility M9 (aka Radeon 9000) w/32mb ram
• 14' SXGA+ screen
• Docking Station (TODO: add model number), with external monitor and IBM USB Keyboard with UltraNav (aka Trackpoint)
• Logitech Extreme 3D Joystick

The good

• Everything worked out of the box using SimplyMEPIS 7.0 distro.
• X : including 3D works great using this xorg.conf which results in a peak 'glxgears -printfps' of 2025 frames per second.
• USB (UHCI/EHCI) Works fine, including booting from a USB 2.0 harddisk, connecting USB SD Card Reader, USB Thumbdrives. Note, it's even possible to boot from a USB drive by following the directions at http://www.pendrivelinux.com/2007/09/21/usb-ubuntu-704-persistent-install/
• CD/RW & DVD: Both work fine
• Ethernet: tested connected to a 10/100 Hub, have not testing 1GB
• Sound worked
• PCMCIA: {Not Tested Yet}
• Hard disk: Works, but have not tested the hdparam tuning yet
• ACPI support: working
• Speedstep support: working

TODO:

1. try 1400x1050 Laptop display mode
