VoiceNotes FAQ

If I stop my recording in progress, can I add to it later?

No, a recording cannot be re-started once it is stopped.

I can't re-name my notes with the 'Edit' button!

Make sure you tap the 'Done' button on the keyboard when you are finished entering the new note name.

I can't record with my iPod Touch, even if I yell into it!

The iPod Touch does not have an integrated microphone like the iPhone, so you will need to use a combination headphone/microphone accessory like this one by Apple.

The note is playing but I can't hear it, help!

Be sure your iPhone volume is turned up.

I can't start VoiceNotesSync, it just shows an error message: "Null"!

For Windows users, start 'regedit' and delete the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\org\garsoft\voicenotes\sync

For Mac OS users, delete this file:
~/Library/Preferences/org.garsoft.voicenotes.plist

Then restart VoiceNotesSync.

I can't sync, what gives?

Make sure your iPhone is connected to the same wireless network that the server is running on, also you may need to configure your wireless router to allow TCP connections on port 9005.

I STILL can't sync, please help!

You may have a firewall turned on, in which case you need to configure it to allow "incoming connections". Also, try removing any special characters (such as >, <, *, &, %, !, etc) from the note name before syncing.

I clicked 'Play' in VoiceNotesSync, but nothing happens!

Please make sure that you have Quicktime installed, and that it's associated with ".caf" files.

Where are the synced audio files stored?

The files are stored in the 'sync folder', whose name is shown in the upper-left panel in VoiceNotesSync, you can open it by clicking on the 'Open' button (1.6 VoiceNotesSync only) or navigate there manually with Finder or Explorer.

I can't sync my 90 minute recording, what's the deal?

Please update VoiceNotes to version 1.4, which fixes this issue.
