Goal
The goal of this project is to create an ecommerce shopping cart system specifically designed for the sale of soft-goods (ie. Images, Documents, Software).
Requirements
The requirements for this project are in the process of being defined, but here are some of the core requirements that may or may not be included:
- free user registration system
- browse goods by category
- search for goods by keyword
- search for goods by file characteristics
- add goods to a cart
- purchase goods by credit card and paypal
- download purchased goods
- faq and help documents for customers
These are some neat features that may or may not be included:
- bandwidth limiting - limit bandwidth to a certain percentage greater than the amount necessary for your downloads (prevents extensive re-downloading of the same file), extra bandwidth at charge or at store managers discretion
- auto-generation of previews for certain files (ie. images, documents)
- intelligent caching
- product comments posting
- product rankings - by user rating, by most bought, by most hits
- calculated listing on a product page of other products bought with it
- variable licensing
- discount packages - ie. buy 10 images of this type up-front and pick them out to download later
- module/extension support
- bulk rates - different percentages off on various categories based on previous customer purchases
- Usage statistics
- Packaged downloading - Select a bunch of files and have them zipped or tarred for download
