My name is Mike Fisher. I graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology's CS program in 2002. I am a former/alumni member of RIT's Computer Science House. I update my LiveJournal slightly more frequently.

Professionally, I work at the University of Rochester's School of Nursing as a programmer and system administrator. I've also worked doing various combinations of these jobs at Xerox. I consider myself very fortunate to have had consistently enjoyable positions and co-workers.

I spend too much time using computers, but fortunately, I run the best OS around: FreeBSD. I also run an Apple PowerBook (for all of the FreeBSD-based goodness plus decent commercial application support) in a lightweight, powerful computer.

I like to read; I'm quite partial to the writings of Ayn Rand. I like her messages of individuality. I prefer to watch movies; I saw over two hundred in 2004 and 2005.

I've also been striving to improve as a runner; I have run in the following:

During the seasons that permit it, I like to ride my motorcycle, a 1993 BMW K75.

I like to program computers, even when I'm not at work.

I used to be involved with the production of Gracies Dinnertime Theatre, a satire magazine published at RIT. I still like to show up occasionally to help fold.

I used to play a lot of XScrabble. I maintain a few lists (and graphs) of scores from games that I played against other people (one-on-one, as I haven't figured out a good ranking system for three or four player games). They are incomplete lists that do not date back far enough.
