This is really old stuff from around 1990 and 1991,
which came out of a project called "JakeDev" which was to write
a simple OS for an old VAX 11/780 we had that was named Jake.

Later, in 1991, we got a bunch of Kodak KIMS workstations donated to us,
which were basically MicroVAX's with 1536x1152 resolution (4 shade)
screens, and graphics processors. The documentation that managed to
get was all wrong, though, due to it being "preliminary" documentation.

So, I started disassembling the ROMs to figure out how these machines
worked, and ended up writing a vt200 emulator for them, which also
had the ability to download software upgrades, as well as background
pictures to put up on the screen.

I found that there was was room to put this program in the EPROMs that
were in the machines, so I upgraded about 3 or 4 of them to have
"ShagTerm" built into them. That, combined with the ability to download
new software over the terminal line, made them fairly useful.
(These were diskless machines, and at the time we had no way to boot
them over the network, except to load VMS... ugh)

Later, in the spring of 1991, we (me and many other CSH people,
including Pat, Geordie, Shanzer, and others) ended up porting X-Windows
to the KIMS, so ShagTerm become unnecessary, since now they were full
workstations running Ultrix and X. (Ultrix booted using the MOP
protocol)

So, that's about all there is to say about the stuff here,
except that if you ever find a kodak KIMS workstation, turn it on,
and at the >>> prompt, type "G 20077002" (I hope I remembered that
right) and see if ShagTerm is hidden in the EPROMs.

And while you're there, hit "SETUP" and turn on the
rotating 3-d Starship Enterprise screen saver!
