here's what happens with future Hidden Notes...
* I will read the note... unless there is a good reason
for its being there (I can't think of one), I shall
send a letter to the person who wrote it, and explain
that the note has been removed from the conference.
(I shall EXTRACT it, then delete it). I can thus
replace it if needed).
* If the person doesn't care about the note, I shall likewise
delete it from my account... 60 days after the extraction,
I shall, again, delete it from my account. After which
the note will be unretrievable.
As for this topic, it has now served its purpose... I shall
nuke this topic in... let's say, 10 days. Take what you need.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all
for your words, your views, and for just being LEVers! I love
ya all!
We're gonna make this the best conference EVER. Because it
is not only Mine, but also Yours... post whatever fits your style
(assuming, naturally, that it fits the 2 Holy Laws of Lev). Make
this conference what YOU want it to be.

My friends and fellow LEVers,
As you can see, there are a few who dis this conference
straight off... who say that it is useless, that it is dead.
Perhaps you have heard the rumors... even believed them...
but I am here to tell you that LEV is more than what they
perceive it as.
For me, LEV_SOCIETY is something precious. We try to
emphasize Unity here. Friendship. This is a place you can come
to avoid all the rules, all the Stress of RIT. You don't have to
worry about all the constraints, the "guidelines" of other
conferences... of RIT as a whole. LEV_SOCIETY is something
different. Something unique. People say, "Oh, it's just another
CHEERS." I differ. CHEERS is restricted. You cannot create topics
at will, you must appeal to become a member of CHEERS. CHEERS is
great, CHEERS is fun, and has been for me, but LEV_SOCIETY is more
than that... not a cheap rip-off. LEV has a philosophy. LEV
believes in self-determination, in the freedom to set into motion
your own ideas and dreams. LEV does not want flames, it does not
desire fun at the expense of others. LEV believes in treating each
other with respect, with mutual acceptance... of others, of their
ways.
LEV_SOCIETY is far from dead. There are those who do not
understand, those who would denounce us in their lack of
perception... they see only the surface... not the true meaning
beneath that surface. But LEV_SOCIETY, time and time again,
has topped all other conferences with its tremendous response...
in not even 3 months, we have accumulated over 4,500 of these
responses... some now deleted, most still here for all to
experience... but this life, this vibrance, is more than
many smaller conferences may see in a lifetime.
Clearly, then, the idea of Levity, of Harmony and goodwill,
holds something special for us. This is not dead. This is
not even close to dead... it is an ideal within us that can NEVER
be destroyed. And this conference is a direct reflection of that
strength, that ideal within us all.
My friends, for all the so-called toils I must endure in the
name of Harmony, for every swear-word I must attend to, for every
personal attack I must alleviate, for every critisism or attack
to this conference that I must confront, this is still LEV. And
the Good far outweighs any mild toil I must contend with. This
Conference is my dream, as is Unity my dream, as is Acceptance
my dream, as is Understanding of all people my dream. And for
each conflict I have had to face, I have found every adversary to
be, after all, only a person like myself; not the foe they might
have been had I not tried to understand.
This LEV - it is an ideal. And all of you have shown your
own LEV in this conference... in your comments, your thoughtful
postings, or even just in the smiles you have created by your
humor and wit... you are, my friends, a most integral part of
this ideal, indeed of LEV_SOCIETY as a whole. I want you all
to walk beside me... be here when the new sun rises. For all
those who seek friends shall find them here... shall be welcome
here. And in this, we shall never falter, so long as we are one.

For the Record, a re-statement is in Order as to the Laws of LEV.
As you seasoned LEVers know, LEV_SOCIETY is against forced conformity
as well as un-needed rules and Beauracracy. Thus we try to keep it
to a minimum... with our 2 Holy Laws of LEV.
And these are not only simple, but with a little practice,
Easy to Use.
1 - No Swearing.
2 - No Personal Attacks.
Ya see? Now, in the past, there has been some confusion as to
the Exact Interpretation of the 2 Holy Laws. Here is some
clarification...
SWEAR WORDS are words that are listed as Explicitives (or "vulgar")
in the Dictionary. We allow only 2 Swear Words... "Damn" and "Hell"
for these are highly accepted by society and show up on Network TV
all the time. ALL OTHER SWEAR WORDS ARE INAPPROPRIATE. If you're not
sure, Asterik it out... like this

etc
etc.
Any post with a swear word is Now Subject to deletion without
notification. Many, many of these deletions are done everyday,
and it is very time-consuming to send out a letter of explanation
for EVERY note. You KNOW the rules, folks. So if a note goes
away, that's possibly why.
As for Personal Attacks, that's harder to define... in general,
if you post something that is done specifically to tick someone
off, that's a Personal Attack. DON'T DO IT. LEV_SOCIETY is a
place where all are welcome... ALL. Fun at another's expense is
NOT LEV.
However, some notes may be too subtle for the unknowing eye to
register as a Personal Attack. If you see a note which you find
to be a personal Attack, send me mail telling me which note, and
it shall be removed.
I shall continue to send out notifications for Note-Deletion
with explanations for all Personal Attack matters.
So there we are, folks. All nice and clear. Be LEV to each
other. Respect each other's happines. Be understanding of your
siblings. For here, we are all LEV, we are all as one.

OFFICIAL POLICY ON THE CREATION OF NEW TOPICS
Now that we're back, and revised, and "properly pruned,"
it is only fitting that I post here a statement concerning
New Topics in LEV. Many of you are new here, and may not
know what we are about... so read on, my friends. Let your
questions melt away.
Here in LEV_SOCIETY, all those rules and restrictions
have no place... only the 2 HOLY LAWS of LEV. (You know what
they are!) LEV is to have fun, to enjoy yourselves, as much
as it is for Acceptance and Unity.
All topics are allowed in the Name of Having Fun... if
it is a topic meaningful or fun for you, go for it! This
Conference is Writable... we WANT you to contribute your
ideas freely! All of our views are important.
If the Topic does end up being something directly
Anti-Lev (like, let's say, The Killing People Topic, or
The Swearing Topic) it shall be removed appropriately.
If it lulls in its support (only 3 people need offer
support... see THE NUKAGE TOPIC), or if everybody thinks
it is cheesy, then fine... we'll delete it. No harm done.
Point is this : you have nothing to lose! So be a leader!

My friends,
it is time for you to know that I shall be relinquishing
the MODship of LEV_SOCIETY. My exit is best made now, during the
summer months, where it can be done painlessly and discreetly.
My reasons are many. The most immediate is that I cannot get
to a computer over the summer as I might have suspected.
I am proud to have been a key member in bringing about the
LEV_SOCIETY conference... and I am sure that it will continue to
stand long after my passing... as a monument, as a continuing factor,
in the promotion of Unity, Levity, Acceptance, and Happiness. I will
always hold these ideals close to my heart, and always will I strive
to bring them about in the things I do, and in the friendships I will
form.
Simply, it is time for me to explore my LEV in a new way... this
conference was but one of infinite possible vehicles in promoting an
understanding between people. Only one. And I have been largely
happy with the success of LEV_SOCIETY... but it is not the only way.
It is time for me to explore those other ways.
You will always have a friend in me... those who seek the Solenoid
shall find him... but I shall drop from public view for a while... it
is not the way I choose to walk at present. But I shall still be here,
even in my subliminity... call and I shall hear.
Now, the politics of my leaving...
LEV_SOCIETY will need a new Moderator. A Second Mod of LEV.
This mod should hold the will to see through the ideals of Acceptance,
Unity, and Lightening Up... of fellowship, of the 2 Holy Laws of LEV.
Under ideal circumstances, a MOD should be approved and voted in by
the People... the People of LEV_SOCIETY. This may not be possible
over the summer, what with the drop in Membership and all... I shall
hold the MOD position for the indefinite future until a new MOD can
be found. If we cannot find a new MOD before Summer's End, we may
lock the Conference closed until the fall, when we may surely find a
LEVer worthy of the position.
If you want to be MOD, mail me... or contact Ms. Reek of the
Computer Science Department. Once a new MOD is selected, the details
are cake, and there will be no difficulty in me transferring my awesome
VAXMOD powers to a new recipient.

Yes, my people, as you know, I shall be leaving you as MOD of
LEV... and the process in selecting a New Mod has been long and
hard... choosing the best from among so many Involved and Excellent
LEVers was certainly no easy matter! But I have come to a decision,
and the Second Mod of LEV shall be Sherm, the Doc... CAS9353. He
has demonstrated not only his involvement, but also his concern on
many an occasion for the politics of LEV, the True Meaning of what
is LEV and what is not, what is Fun, and what is unacceptable. He
gave me lots of food for thought, that Sherm... and that is the
most important quality a MOD of LEV can have... the ability to
question himself, the ability to be objective, the ability to put
the Good of the Conference above personal opinions or even ego.
I have seen Sherm do this... and I have confidence that he shall
continue as such in my place as Moderator of this Conference.
I go now, but I leave you under his guidance... and also leave
with you the 2 Holy Laws. Especially the Second. Be Excellent
to Each Other... and Party On, Dudes!
May you keep the faith, may you keep the LEV. All who seek
peace and acceptance in LEV_SOCIETY shall find it. May that, most

Well, as you now know, Tony has relinquished MOD privs to me for
LEV_SOCIETY. I have been notified as to what I have to do to keep this
conference going right, and I ask for your assistance. If there is
something that you do not like, or if there is an offensive post,
please bring it to my attention. If there is a topic that you feel is
unLEV, please let me know, either by mail or by posting it in this
topic. I am going to try my best at being a good moderator for this
conference, and if there is anyone that has any objections to something
I do, let me know. This is *our* conference, not solely *mine*. I only
look over it, and keep the peace (sort of like the LEV cop. :) ).
I am learning all about being a MOD, and from time to time, I may
ask those of you who are already moderators of other conferences for

I have received a complaint about the overusage of formfeeds in
certain people's notes, and their are a few things that should be said.
First of all, they are highly annoying. The main use for a
formfeed is to "surprise" someone with something unexpected. For
example, read my post about the Beavis & Butthead topic. Their is a
formfeed in there that is "properly" used.
At any rate, further misuse of formfeeds shall result in the posts
being deleted. Please try to keep their use at a minimum, if you have
to use them at all.

1) Profanity.

1) The use of profanity has to stop, even if asteriks (sp?) replace
letters, or the word is spelt wrong. This is a purely public
conference, with unlimited access. I have recieved a notice, and a
complaint about it (because of one or two notes in particular). You can
post without the use of cursewords and the like. From here on in, all
posts containing profanity will be deleted. If you feel you see a
problem with my decision, e-mail me privately. Do not post your opinion
here; it shall also go the way of the do-do.
2) I've noticed that hardy noone stays on topic anymore, and babble is
present in almost every topic. Please try to keep to topic. If the

As was said in the last post, if the topic Word Play was abused,
it goes. Well, it is gone.
I also deleted the topic Soft-drinks. It was a copy of the old
Soda/Pop topic. That was deleted awhile ago, and most of you know the
reasons for it.
Do not recreate those two topics or else I *will* set this
conferece to /NOWRITE. If that happens, the only way to enter a new
topic is to mail me with your idea, and I start the topic, but I do not
want to do something like that.
Also, LEV_SOCIETY is going to be shutdown sometime at the end of
the month for cleaning out. All the policies from then on (which are
explained in my posts in this topic) shall be strictly enforced. I have
been *very* linient for the summer months, but come fall quarter, all
crap goes.

When I post in this topic, it is as Moderator. I was appointed a

you get flamed for asking idiotic questions as such...that's what

basically the policy is that if you star out a couple of letters of
an obscene word, that does NOT make the word less obscene because it is
still known what the word was supposed to be.
I would assume a character sequence like "$@#*&!" would be
acceptable because it is not referring to a specific obscene word,
rather the tone created from an obscene word.

According to ISC policy, swearing is not allowed... thus the rule
against swearing in the first pla. Swearing IS allowed in private
conferences, but to make LEV_SOCIETY private does defy the point.
We also see swearing in Poetry (I'm not sure why), but that
probably has to do with the fact that swearing is more socially
acceptable when used toward art...
Anyway, as to the number of asterisks in a word, technically (it
would seem), to be okay, but the lines are fuzzy, and so the MOD call
to ban them is a judgement call. Also, if you read Sherm's note, you
will see that his decision to ban this kind of "swearing" is based on
his own interpretation of LEV, as are his rules concerning sexual
explicitness, form-feeds, off-topic notes, and unusually long notes.
See his posts for details.
Of course, as LEVers, it is your right to state your opinions, and
on the whole, LEV_SOCIETY should be run by the people. But the MOD is
responsible for the conference, and once he has heard and listened
(objectively) to your views, he must weigh the implications carefully
against the ideals of LEV. The MOD, by definition, cannot let personal
feelings interfere, but all said and done, the MOD's decision should be
respected as law.
Debate should always be allowed (either in this topic, or in
another if it seems appropriate), but all LEVers should try their best
to follow the set rules regardless of their opinions. If you truly
believe that a rule is Un-Lev, speak and you will be heard. That is

All the "default" rules are explained in there. But it doesn't stop
there,... Moderators are alloud to alter those rules, using their
judgement, to better the conference. The rules established in this
conference have a purpose, or they would not be here.
The reason swearing is not aloud, is because the conference could
survive well enough without it. Some people are offended by swear
words. I for one, if you know me personally, could care less, since I
have the mouth of a sailor. Get me mad, and it comes with the accent.
;) Starring out letters still implies swearing. Certain conferences,
such as MUSIC_ROOM, and POETRY allow swearing, cause it is "appropiate"
their, and the moderators of those conferences feel it has its place.

I didn't delete notes either without at least alerting the people
as to WHY I did it. It wasn't my conference... I only ran it. It was

I do not feel that such drastic changes are justifiable without
consulting the members of LEV, who should have a say in what happens in
their conference. I know you're trying to "save" this conference, but
you are saying, "the people do not know what is good for them, but -I-
do, and when I do these things, it is because it is for their own
good." You cannot judge that. Only an individual can decide what is
right for him and what is not. I remember Sherm, the LEV-COP... before
he became the LEV-GOD. Power is a responsibility, and Sherm, I know
you are only intending the best for our people, but in all this, we
cannot lose sight of why we are here... why you are MOD.
LEV is for fun. Lightening up and having fun. If it's fun to make

Rules. What are rules? Why do we need them? What practical purpose
do they serve other than make your life and my life miserable? Rules
are no fun. Then, in concluesion, that must be Unlev.
Let us look then at the definitions of those two words. Rule, and
Levity. The following definitions are taken from The American Heritage
Dictionary (Second College Edition) found in the Watson User Computing
Center.
Rule: To keep within proper limits; restrain.
Levity: A light manner or attitude especially when inappropriate.
Frivolity. (Frivolity means Unworthy of serious attention; trivial.)
I guess the answer is in the two definitions. They seem to
contradict themselves. Or does it? I don't know anymore. Maybe I am not
supposessed to know. Does Levity exist with rules?
According to Houdini, I am a lousy moderator. I guess I am. That
is up to you to decide. Quite frankly, I have had it with certain
people telling me how to run the conference. "Do this", "Don't delete
*MY* topic!!", "You outta do this,...".
With this conference getting close to 200 notes a day, or
something like that, I thought I knew what I was doing. But apparently
not. Rules do not fit into this conference according to its title. This
conference can be the best if it had no rules whatsoever.
"Who cares if people are off topic? Who cares if there are
repititous topics? This is Lev!!!" Brian repeatidly (sp? I put the
dictionary away.) tells me this. He also says "This (or that) goes
against the 2 holy laws, thus are wrong." And Tony is agreeing with him
on most of this.
The reason Tony left was to get away from the crap that happened
while there was no rules. Complete chaos is what resulted from no
rules. Why should I try to set it straight?
I am not a quitter, but maybe letting a professional in the feild
of Levity take this conference over will do it some good. (that was
*very* sarcastic) I already lost Liz and Tony as friends, and wish to
lose no more because of this troublesome conference.
I am handing over the moderatorship to Houdini as of tomorrow.
Then I am deleting LEV_SOCIETY from my notebook. I will get a heck of a
lot more work done without having to read over 50 notes everytime I
log in.
I guess I am waging a losing battle here......

OK. I'm now pissed and anyone who knows me, this is hard to do.
I have been watching (after all this is a fun conference, and I enjoy
the humor and the people.), but this calls for me to voice my opinion,
thats all it is, my opinion.
Sherm, you did a good job. It is not you has screwed up, or made any
mistakes. It is the Participants of Lev. From what I understand,
everyone wants just the Two rules of Lev. Those two rules, mean
anarchy, and Lev and Anarchy just don't mix. They are a complete
contradiction.
Sol, when you were a moderator, you did a good job, and I'm sure
Bryan or Brian, (sorry I don't know which spelling you prefer) will do
the best job that he can.
If everyone posted everything that they wanted to or everything that
they felt, Lev would be filled to the hilt, with posts saying: "Yeah,
I agree." or "shut-up". And there is no place for that in Lev. I
think everyone that reads, and posts here realizes that kind of posting
is for those that just want attention and have nothing better to do.
And if that statement offends anyone, Tough. I think that the
institution of a few rules, as painful as it might be, would be for the
better for Lev, and the Moderators(which we seem to go through like old
Jello).
Once Everyone that posts here can grow up and realize that
toleration, respect, understanding and moderation (as a verb) are values
that everyone must possess to live in society, and using them in Lev
certainly wouldn't hurt, either.

I'm afraid I can't offer much... I wish I could offer some answer,
some word that could clear this all up.
Some of us exchanged opinions about the conference today. It
wasn't the right time. All four of us walked away very distraught, and
I'd imagine, very dissapointed for whatever personal reasons.
I love a good debate. But there are times when ideas are best left
undebated. Even valid thoughts can cause problems if offered at the
wrong time.
That's what I did, alright. Opened my mouth where caution and
perspective would've served me better.
I'm still not sure exactly what happened. I don't forfeit my
friendship with anyone... if anything, I understand. And if anyone
chooses to hold ill-feelings against me, well, I don't blame them.
I made a mistake... and I fear that there is no turning back from
that. But likewise, I cannot just hide away and separate myself from
the whole thing. I must take responsibility, for I cannot let you all
just think, "Sherm's flyin' off the handle," for I know some of you may
be so inclined. He's justified. A debate (arguement?) can't
happen without back-and-forth conversation.
Very much, I would like things to be stable again, for us to have
peace again. I was never mad at Sherm... or anyone. I just had to
stick up for my all-holy ideals. Yay. Lot o' Levity came out of that.
I am left with plenty of thinking to do.
I'll do what I can to mend the situation - I just don't know what
that is yet. I agree with everyone else - Sherm is a good MOD, and I
see no one better to oversee this conference than him. That is not
bull. That is a fact. That is why I chose him, and I still believe
it. Sherm, I believe in you, and I know that doesn't fix everything,
or maybe even anything, but it is the very, very least I can do.

For one thing, NOONE lost me as a friend today... at least not of my
volition. Sherm...Sol...Houdini... I was indeed a tad miffed when I
left... not because I hated any of you, but because I was frustrated.
I was frustrated because none of you seemed to be interested in any
sort of middle ground. You just seemed to be yelling without
listening, and that sort of thing has always gotten my ire up.
However, this does not eliminate you guys as friends.
Since the yelling has ceased, perhaps now I can state my opinions
openly and without fear of malice or interruption.
Sherm... you stated that a conference cannot exist without rules, a
moderator's job is to enforce these rules, and thus you were just doing
your job to the best of your ability. Sol... you stated that LEV is
not about a bunch of rules, rather a place to "lighten up". I see both
of these things, and believe each to an extent.
I personally think that rules are a terrific thing... they protect and
aid us to see what is acceptable in a given area. I think LEV should
indeed have rules, and these rules should be enforced consistently.
However, there are only two rules that I have ever seen actually coded
in LEV... No swearing and no personal attacks. Any others I am not
really sure of. As far as I know, the debate was sparked by the
deletion of two topics that were deleted without consulting anyone
else, and neither broke these rules. I understand the rationale behind
these deletions. I agree with the rationale behind these deletions.
But Sol did have a valid point that people should have been consulted.
No one person will ever agree one hundred percent with the opinions of
thirty or so people. Thus, one person's beliefs in what is a valid
topic cannot always coincide with the feelings of the rest of the
conference. Thus, I believe the rest of the people, or at least a few
others from the conference... anyone!... should have been consulted or
at least advised of/forwarned that topics were to be deleted. Maybe in
the future a topic the mod just personally dislikes for whatever
reason, but many in the conference do like gets deleted. "The Hope
Chest" for example. The mod hates it... nothing really wrong rulewise
with it, it just gets on his nerves... and deletes it. Several people
will understandably be peeved. Consulting people and asking them to
defend it if they want to save it may save some strife. I know this
has been tried, and people didn't take it seriously before. Perhaps we
have matured enough to try it again. Perhaps I am too hopeful.... I
don't know. But we have to try these things so that LEV doesn't become
a battlefield.
Basically, my suggestions are this.
1. Rules. Codify 'em. Simple stuff... No swearing... no personal
attacks.... no repetitive topics.... whatever sounds fair and
reasonable.
2. If there is a topic to be deleted, let people know which and why,
and, if there is indeed something to be debated about it, LEVVERS...LET
THE MOD KNOW!!!!! They are indeed not psychic. Let's make it work this
time.
I consider most of this a family. Let's not wreck it. Instead, let us
just act like the rational, intelligent people I know we all are
(otherwise I wouldn't care so blasted much about this group) and settle
these differences intelligently.

War finally broke out eh? Well, I have some ideas of my own to
share.
1) Sherm did a good job. As moderator of the conference, he is in
charge, he makes the call. If he does something you object to, you
bring it up. Let the opinions fly. But in the end, he must make the
call. And I can hear many people raising objections out there. Who
gave him the power to decide? By what right? By the right WE gave
him, and the power WE gave him. Lets face it people, there has to be a
leader, someone to take charge and act as he feels fit, within certain
restraints. Sherm never broke any of those restraints. Remember,
total democracy is just as bad as total dictatorship.
2) All you holier then thou 'that ain't lev' yellers can go find a
hole to die in for all I care bout you. 'Unity, acceptance, fun' my
butt. More like 'Walk the path of our enlightened ways or get burned
on the cross'. The ONLY person here that I still have respect for and
truly is LEV by his definition is Sol. He truly tries to live up to
it. The rest of you have become zealous warriors of some false LEV
idea and are pissing a lot of people off. This Sol, is why I object to
your ideas, but I will state that in another topic.
3) I'm quite dismayed to find our new mod, THE most ardent Sherm
basher in here, is turning down the oppurtunity to be mod. What the
hell? Want all the priviledges, but none of the responsibilty? Are
you so afraid that when you are leader that all this will turn against
you? Maybe, maybe not. But I'm glad you get to walk in Sherm's shoes
for a while at least, perhaps you won't be so quick to judge next time.

I think the whole lot of you (with the exception of a few) are
being total fools about this whole thing and blowing everything WAY out
of proportion. Think about it...what is the real issue here? Is it
that either Sol, Sherm, or Tony are doing a bad job? No. It's the
fact no person in charge can satisfy everybody. Brian, if you think
you can do this, you're wrong. Sol and Sherm found out the hard way.
It's in human nature to be miserable and to bitch about it.
Personally, I'm tired of all the arguing and bickering going on
here. It's like a big soap opera, and I have enough of that going on
in my life anyway. Thus, I'm leaving the conference until things are
straightened out. To paraphrase Sherm, I can use the time it'll give
me not having to read 300 new notes a day.

Take heart, -jd, we have had a change of MOD, yes, but what has
changed? The Conference of LEV_SOCIETY has always been the People who
participate in it, not who watches over it.
Admittedly, we are presently in a rather uncomfortable situation,
but it will pass. The immediate "danger" is over, and all that is left
is to sort out a few pieces and our conference shall be up and running
again, good as new.
In the meantime, like I said, nothing is different... we have all
the same topics, all the same people, all the same desire to have a
little fun... that isn't changed. The rest will take care of itself.
People just want things to settle down.
Please, do not fear that this conference will run over a cliff. We
are the biggest conference on the VAX (us and Skippy's) and that's not
going to fizzle because of 1 misunderstanding. And you know I would
never let that happen. ;) I would gladly take the reigns if the need
were great enough. I love this conference, and believe in what it
stands for. But I'm not the only one. We ALL do. We all enjoy the
chance to kick back with some friends, and do our part to make this a
better place. We all care about the ideals of this conference, in
whatever way we may interpret them. Simply, we care about LEV. And
that is why this conference will not die.

True, people... this is the Official Stuff Topic, folks... we shouldn't
be jibbering in here. This is mostly a place for serious discussion
only.
I'll admit, I like to post as much as the best of them... especially
during Freshman Initiation. But there's a time to come down off that
posting-high and just go with the flow.
N U has been my friend lately, and I used to read ALL the notes...
there were 900 new notes today, and although this makes me proud for
our success, most of that 900 is unintelligable.
Tas is right... we do lose the point of the conference if we drown all
the good in thousands of fluffy notes. If we have a message, who will
see it?
That was the reason for the Big LEV Nuke Fest of 92-93. Had to clean
it out. That's also the reason for the NUKE topic. People will post
about anything, cuz it's fun... but if it goes up for nukage, who will
mourn it's passing? The fluff topics will come back... that's okay...
but when we've had our fun, we have to clean up.
On the other hand, I've seen some Great postings lately... really good
poems and writings and Role-Playings and Philosophy. I enjoy that
part. (Thanks for giving me a run for my money, Tas! I have new stuff
to consider every day!) So that is cool. But 1000+ notes a day is a
little much for even VAXSol to handle.
I say proceed with the nukages... Dank shall obliterate whatever is not
supported sufficiently, so help him along!

I've been wanting to see this for some time now in a real theatre,

Ok, I'm going to show up at 5:00 but hopefully a little earlier. How
about we all gather up in the back in the smoking section near the exit
door going back into the SAU near Campus Cutters. To be more specific,
go into the Ritz through the exit in the SAU and go up the 2 steps on
the right and you're there. That area is usually empty at night.
For those of you that don't me, which is about half, I'm 5'8", brown
hair, probably be wearing jeans and a sweat shirt.

I also think we should clean out Official Stuff, leaving only the most
recent/fundamental stuff. People can read this topic for The Rules of
the conference, and also for pressing new concerns/ideas. Nobody will
read it if it has 200 posts. Some important (but not official notes)
should probably be moved elsewhere...
That way, even if someone is inclined to skip the fluff. they will
know that Official Stuff has only the most fundamental, bottom-line
stuff in it.
