With the million I had stowed away in the checking account, I would first finish school (paying for it myself, as well as paying my parents back for the first year and a half). Next I would go out and buy myself a big full-sized four wheel drive pickup. I'd get myself a Golden retreiver puppy and head out west. I'd go to my uncle's and have him help me find and purchase a good strong draft horse. I'd spend a week or so with him making sure I knew how to care for a horse. Then I'd get a good sturdy horse trailer. I'd load up half of it with supplies (camping gear, food, puppy chow, horse grain, etc.) I'd go buy the necessary equipment I'd need for the job I had planned. Then I'd head up to Montana, find a real estate broker and g purchase three or four hundred acres of the most virgin, untouched wilderness I could find. Something up near the mountains, or preferably in them. Something with a small lake or a river nearby would be perfect. Then I'd set up camp and get to work building a log cabin. Completely from scratch. I'd chop the trees down myself, with an axe, not a chainsaw. I'd haul them to the site I'd pick to build the cabin and set them up to age. They'd probably need a good year to age properly, so after I'd gotten them settled, I'd bring the horse back to my uncle's and spend the year there working for him. Once the year was up and my trees were aged, I'd really stock up on supplies, as well as photo equipment. I'd buy a 4 x 5 field camera and head out to my Montana paradise. There, with my horse and my dog, Shep, I'll build my cabin. Sleeping out under the stars every night until I finish it. I'll document each step photographically and in a journal. When I finally finish it, I'll go visit Tas and see if he can help me work it into a manuscript which I'll try to get published. I would then take up residence on the other side, formerly Meechum Lake State Park, and build my dream house, living in peaceful serenity, listening to the call of the loons floating across the spring air.
