Well, it is undoubtedly and positively SODA!! :)
I have been inside many a store here in Rochester and at every display
for the carbonated beverage (except for "Wegman's" brand, which doesn't
count anyway) it has said "Soda - 6-packs $whatever." Only for "Jolt
Cola" has it said *POP*. So, if you want to call Jolt POP, go right
ahead, but as far as I, and the rest of the natural born world is
concerned, everything else is SODA!! :)
Now, the alcohol thing.
Hard liquor is not allowed on campus, so be careful with it.
Beer on the other hand IS allowed, and is a favorite beverage of mine,
whether consumed in large or minute quantities. I just like the taste.

in the "outside world" (outside of the RIT campus), it's pretty much
called both, but ON this campus, the only references to it are 'pop',
and that is dumb! On the whole, most students call it soda, so why does the
administration steadfastly keep calling it pop? This is a trivial
concern, but it bugs me.

Anyone else have a favorite glass/cup/container they always drink out
of? I have a half liter stein for Bitberger beer which I bought in
Germany while I was there. We have many at home, but this one's my
favorite.
On that note, has anyone else ever had Bitberger beer? The best in
the world in my opinion. I usually don't even like beer, but this stuff
is great. It's very hoppy, as in it has a lot of hops (or however you
spell it) It takes 7 minutes to pour a glass of it because of the suds.
Supposedly, it's been released in California and is suposed to make
be released in the rest of the country by spring/summer 94. Keep an eye
peeled!

In most areas of the U.S. I believe it's soda, but in Rochester it's
usually refered to as pop e.g. look at "made in Rochester" brand
names of carbonated beverages - W Pop and Top Pop. I think it's
more often refered to as soda on the RIT campus because many students
who live on campus aren't from the Rochester area.

It's been discussed to death already. In case you're interested:
In Rochester, it's pop. In about half the continental US, it's pop.
In the other half, it's soda. In Texas, it's coke. I've been
traveling around the US for about 12 years now, and that's the way it
is. I feel I've taken a good sample... and you know what:

What's the deal with this? I don't see how they can allow beer and
not ingredients for other drinks... Well, I can see it. 80 proof
versus 3 proof is pretty drastic. But what about those of us who can't
stand the taste of beer? The only way I can stomach that aftertaste is
by getting blasted first, and beer isn't going to do it if I can't
drink it. What *exactly* is allowed, if anyone knows?

It's my understanding that the term 'beverages' represents all
drinkables. Why is it to be deleted because of the soda pop war?
If it must be assumed that the topic 'beverages' is for the soda pop
war, then why not just change it to 'alcoholic beverages' and eliminate
all valid possibility of the war existing here? A topic specifically
about alcoholic beverages could be a valid topic here, as partying is
an approved lev activity... :)

Reason I like soda is cuz I never had it ('cept at friends house &
stuff) and so it's relatively new...sorta...
My best friend drinks like a gallon of milk a day...if not more! Geez
