Who am I?

     I am Matthew Harding.  My nick name since high school has been Spl@.  It came from one of my pole-vault coaches.  The funny thing is that I wasn't a pole-vaulter in high school.  I was a more of a "What needs to be done." I mostly competed, at Westborough High School in MA, in both hurdles, the javelin, and the high jump.  The event I loved the most was the decathlon because of it unusual nature.  Ten events in 2 days.  Apart from track I was a varsity soccer goalie and was part of the first team since the 1970's to win a playoff game.  At least that is what I have been told.  But that was high school.  Now I am in college.  I am attending Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and having the time of my life.

     At RIT I have kept busy.  The first way I do this is with my major.  I am a 5 year CS major.  It is hard work but I have enjoyed it so fare.  I added more stuff to do in my life when I joined Computer Science House half way thought my freshman year.  It would take to much time to talk about it here so check out our website www.csh.rit.edu.  I don't compete at any varsity level sports anymore, because of the fact that I don't have the time.  I do however keep my self busy competing at the intramural and club level sports.  In the intramural program I play soccer, football, and volleyball.  I decided to try playing water polo at the club level and have enjoyed it and hope to try and continue to play over the next few years.

    I also started something I would never have ever seen my self doing in college.  No it is nothing bad.  I started teaching on and off.  I some how got involved with John Buckholtz and the American Red Cross.  I started by teaching WSI and then moved to CPR and most recently picked up my Life guarding instructorship. I have really come to love teaching these course and hope to be doing it for a long time to come.
