Welcome!My most recent "about the author / speaker" blurb: Jon Parise currently works as a software engineer at Electronic Arts. He has worked on next generation game engines and on massively multiplayer titles such as The Sims Online and Ultima Online. He specializes in systems engineering and online game play. Prior to that, as a graduate student a Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center, Jon was involved in a variety of research projects ranging from interactive real-time motion capture to a virtual character puppeteering system to interactive animatronics (entertainment robotics). He also holds a bachelors of science degree in Information Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Jon has co-authored a number of books and articles, including Massively Multiplayer Game Development 2, Professional PHP4, and Beginning Databases with PostgreSQL. He is also a long-time contributor to the open source community, specifically serving as a core developer with the Horde and PEAR projects and as a long-time contributor to the PHP project. Changelog
