This WebQuest is designed to help students to understand language in its current form by way of researching its past and extrapolating forward to predict it's future.
Teacher Introduction
This project is intended to help students to appreciate the occasionally arcane and/or arbitrary rules and conventions that exist in the English language as it exists today. The entire task is designed to help students practise their English reception (reading) and production (writing) skills while the prediction portion of the third task is a creative demonstrating that the language is not static information to be memorised, but rather an organic one which follows a logical (if not always clear) path.
Although this project is primarily focused on reading and writing, it does include an oral presentation component. It seemed a natural extension of the existing project and was added to enhance accountability and reativity in the third section's completion. As such, the rubric does not weight this portion very heavily.
